Gleemen were formed in Genoa around 1965 by Pier Niccolò “Bambi” Fossati, an excellent guitarist in the Hendrix style, and included from the beginning Maurizio Cassinelli on drums and Angelo Traverso on bass, together with guitarist and keyboardist Marco Zoccheddu (later in Nuova Idea).

Their first self-titled album, released in 1970, is a good rock album, with strong influences from the sounds of the 60s: Bambi’s wild, Hendrix-inspired guitar style, the organ background and a solid rhythmic base.

The same formation changed its name to Garybaldi in 1971, the only difference was a sound slightly closer to the prog of those years, but maintaining the style of the previous group, with Bambi Fossati’s aggressive guitar above all.

The name Gleemen was revived in 2013 by Maurizio Cassinelli and Angelo Traverso for the second studio album, entitled Oltre…lontano, lontano,

The latest album by Gleemen, entitled Dove vanno le stelle quando viene giorno? was released in 2023, in which Cassinelli is accompanied by the historical member Marco Zoccheddu and the

new musicians Mauro Culotta and Gianpaolo Casu (both already present on the second work) and the bassist Alessandro Paolini.

Dove Vanno le Stelle Quando Viene Giorno? is an album that continues to tell the musical journey of Gleemen and the declinations that the Genoese band has reached in their long career. The new life that oozes from the grooves of this album shows that Italian progressive is alive and boasts exceptional artists like Gleemen.
