SEVEN IMPALE

Seven Impale was formed in the fall of 2009 by Stian Økland, mixing jazz, thrash metal and other genres. After several changes, the current lineup was formed in the summer of 2010.

In the fall of 2013, the band went to Solslottet studio and recorded City of the Sun, pretty much exactly as rehearsed but with additional crazy layers of synthesizers, percussion and the trusty Roland Space Echo. The album was released in September 2014 and was very warmly received by the international prog audience.

In late summer/early fall of 2015, back to Iver’s studio to record Contrapasso. Contrapasso is even more the product of Seven Impale and Iver Sandøy’s collaboration, crazy ideas, tapestry of heavy riffs and crazy soundscapes.

Since the summer of 2017, a lot has happened in lives outside of Seven Impale that have slowed things down a bit. Activities with other bands, a couple of masters, health, work, family, love lives, a baby, a pandemic, the list goes on…

But in April 2021, Seven Impale played again in Bergen for the first time since May 2017, playing the first song written for the long-awaited third album. “Summit” is an album that does not disappoint the high expectations of those who knew Seven Impale, consistent with what has been done in the past while showing a further evolution.

It is not certain whether the world needs a more eclectic, eccentric, electric and elastic jazz-rock, but if so, this is what is coming your way!
